This Privacy Policy explains how Shipping Calculator ("we", "us", "our") handles information when merchants install and use the app with Shopify.
Shipping Calculator is a merchant-facing application designed to calculate shipping rates during Shopify checkout. The app does not directly collect or permanently store personal data about store customers.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate the app.
- Shopify store data: shop domain and installation/session records.
- Merchant account data: account name and email provided by Shopify (where available).
- App configuration data: parcel settings, markups, fallback rules, enabled services, and shipping overrides.
- Rate-calculation inputs: postcode, state, country, weights, item counts, and package dimensions (when provided).
- Operational logs: request timestamps, API responses, and calculated shipping rate results used for troubleshooting.
We do not intentionally collect or store:
- payment card information
- customer passwords
- full customer street addresses
2. Customer Personal Data
The app does not intentionally collect or permanently store personal information about store customers.
When checkout rate calculations are requested, limited destination information such as postcode, state, and country may be processed temporarily in order to calculate shipping rates.
This information is used only to generate shipping rate responses and is not retained beyond operational logs required for troubleshooting.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information to operate the service including:
- authenticating app installations
- requesting live carrier shipping rates
- applying merchant shipping configuration
- calculating checkout shipping prices
- monitoring service reliability
- providing troubleshooting and support
- meeting legal and platform compliance obligations
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade merchant or store data.
Information is shared only when necessary to operate the service:
- Shopify, to operate as an embedded Shopify application.
- Carrier APIs (for example Australia Post) to obtain shipping rates.
- Infrastructure providers including hosting, logging, and database services used to operate the app.
- Authorities when required by law or valid legal process.
5. Service Providers
We may use trusted third-party providers such as hosting, infrastructure, database, and monitoring services to operate the app. These providers process information only as necessary to provide their services and are required to protect the data they handle.
6. Operational Logs
To maintain reliability and diagnose issues, we generate limited operational logs which may include:
- request timestamps
- API responses
- shipping calculation inputs
- calculated rate results
Logs are used only for monitoring and troubleshooting.
7. Data Retention
App data is retained while the app remains installed and as long as necessary to operate the service or comply with legal obligations.
8. App Uninstallation and Data Deletion
When a merchant uninstalls the app, Shopify sends an APP_UNINSTALLED webhook.
Upon receiving this notification we delete associated store records from active application systems within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required for legal or compliance purposes.
9. Shopify Privacy Webhooks
We support Shopify privacy and compliance webhook topics including:
- customers/data_request
- customers/redact
- shop/redact
If applicable data exists in app storage we process these requests in accordance with Shopify requirements and applicable privacy laws.
10. Data Subject Requests
Individuals may request access to or deletion of their personal data.
If a request is received via Shopify or directly from an individual, we will respond in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
If the app does not store the requested personal data, we will confirm that no relevant data exists in our systems.

Our use and transfer of information received from Shopify APIs complies with the Shopify API License and Terms of Use.
We access only the data necessary to provide the functionality of the Shipping Calculator Advanced app.

Data may be processed in countries where our infrastructure providers operate.
We use appropriate safeguards designed to protect information handled by these providers.

We implement reasonable safeguards designed to protect information including:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- access controls and authentication
- restricted infrastructure access

14. Cookies and Tracking
The app does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies.
Infrastructure providers may generate temporary technical logs required to operate the service.
15. Children's Privacy
The service is intended for business use and is not directed toward individuals under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
